Research Impact and Student Achievements

Research conducted by LISS DTP students contributes to a wide range of societal, academic, and professional contexts. In line with the ESRC definition of research impact as “the demonstrable contribution that excellent research makes to society and the economy”, this page highlights how our doctoral researchers share their findings, collaborate with non-academic partners, and develop skills that enable them to create meaningful change beyond academia.

Here, you will find examples of the diverse ways LISS DTP students generate impact, from publishing research and undertaking internships, to working with external organisations and moving into influential careers across sectors. These activities illustrate the breadth of pathways through which social science research can shape policy, practice, and public understanding.
