Governance structure
The governance and management arrangements for the LISS DTP are designed to integrate each of the partners in an effective mechanism for the delivery of excellent research student training. The key elements are as follows:
Governing Council
Provides oversight of LISS DTP’s strategic vision, monitors progress against strategic goals and commitments to the ESRC, facilitates cross-institutional working and ensures sound financial management. The Governing Council is chaired by the Executive Dean of the Social Science and Public Policy at King’s and membership includes senior academic staff from our three institutions.
Core Management Group
Reviews processes and administration, including those relating to studentship and fellowship competitions and finance. It agrees best practice and develops plans and policies related to the operation of the DTP. The membership of the Core Management Group comprises the LISS DTP administrative team, Directors, and student and Research Area representatives.
LISS DTP Training Committee
The LISS DTP Training Committee will have overall responsibility for the development, management, monitoring and delivery of all aspects of the DTP’s training and cohort development programme. The membership of the Training Committee comprises the LISS Deputy Director (Training), the Directors, Research Area Leads, PGR training leads across partners, external specialists, LISS DTP Manager, LISS DTP Assistant Manager and students reps.
External Partnerships Advisory Board
The LISS DTP External Partner Advisory Board has overall responsibility for the development, management, monitoring and delivery of all aspects of the DTP’s external partnerships and impact programme. The membership of the External Partnerships Advisory Board comprises the LISS Deputy Director (Research in Practice), Directors, cross representation from across the partners, external specialists, LISS DTP Partnership Coordinator, student reps.
DTP Studentship Ratification Committee
The LISS DTP Studentship Selection Committee will have overall responsibility for the ratification, distribution and management of all aspects of the DTP’s studentship selection and awards. Membership includes the Director, Deputy Directors, Research Area Leads (at least one per Research Area), external practitioner(s), external DTP moderator.
Research Area Delivery Teams
Chair: Nominated Research Area Lead
Membership includes Academic staff and students from across the Research Areas.

LISS DTP EDI Group
The LISS DTP EDI Group has overall responsibility for EDI Action Plan implementation. Membership includes Deputy Director (EDI & Culture) student representatives, LISS DTP Doctoral Studies Liaison Officer
LISS DTP Student Staff Liaison Committee
Chair: Deputy Director (EDI & Culture)
Membership will include: LISS DTP Directors, student representatives, academic staff, LISS DTP operations team
LISS DTP@Imperial Steering Committee
Raises awareness of LISS DTP and ESRC related opportunities available to Imperial’s staff and students. The Committee also supports the Deputy Director for Collaboration and External Partnerships in the promotion of collaborative research amongst our LISS DTP cohort and Post-Docs and in the provision of initiatives relating to collaborations and external partnerships. It is chaired by the Vice Dean (Research and Faculty) of the Business School at Imperial, currently Professor Franklin Allen, with Dr. Arnab Majumdar, the Deputy Director for External Partnerships, and three selected academic leads.
