Thesis Title: The impact of fiscal measures to support fuel and living costs on winter health in England
Abstract:My research interests lie in the design and implementation of public policies aimed at mitigating the impact of climate change on the health of vulnerable populations. While global average temperatures are rising, climate change does not eliminate cold weather. In fact, it can lead to more extreme weather patterns, including cold spells in certain regions. For instance, disruptions in the polar vortex, linked to climate change, have caused severe cold snaps in parts of North America and Europe. In collaboration with the UK Health Security Agency, my thesis investigates the impact of cold weather on the health of the UK population. Specifically, I analyze community-level factors that increase vulnerability and examine how various support schemes influence health outcomes across different communities.
