Placement project:

Make it Grow is a Knowledge Exchange project, affiliated to the Institute for Sustainable Food (ISF) and the Institute for Global Sustainable Development (IGSD). Make it Grow supports marginalised community groups to develop, express and fundraise for their food-related project ideas through the creation of Participatory Video Proposals. Since 2021, the project has empowered 25+ communities in Zimbabwe to share their stories, co-design and pitch food projects. Communities co-created video proposals to apply for small grants, to implement a range of context-relevant initiatives. This year, we are conducting some further monitoring and evaluation work, to understand and evidence the outcome and impacts of the community food projects.

Outline of duties:

  • Video (both edited productions and raw video clips) logging/organisation, transcription, and editing.
  • Video testimonials and community video reports (created by the partner organisations) to be synthesised into a video documentary (or series of shorts) about the project.
  • Creation of an organised database of “impact evidence”.
  • Contribution to a public engagement output (to give back to the community groups), e.g. a booklet with QR code links to the audio-visual content.

If interested, participation as co-author in a paper for publication.

Expected outputs:

  • Video documentary production, mainly using secondary (participatory) video content, but with some new content required (via remote methods to). Aiming for a 20-30 minute edited final production.
  • Contribution of video content from different community projects, that can be hyperlinked in a booklet for NGOs.
