Paperworks are a charity and social enterprise supporting adults with physical and learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues. They are pretty unique in their support providing work experiences for real customers in their fulfilment centre, as well as wellbeing and learning activities.
Project Description
Evaluating the role of work experience in fostering empowerment for adults with complex support needs, including physical disabilities and mental health challenges
Paperworks would like someone to research and report on the impact of their work for the people they support and their families. This will provide evidence for the future and allow them to showcase their achievements in an academic format.
Expected duties will include:
- Access existing monitoring information
- Explore current outcomes
- Analysis of data
- Conduct additional research through speaking with service users and families
- Provide a report document (or equivalent) to showcase the research and findings
Expected output(s)/ deliverable(s):
Research information and final report – we would love your input into all of these elements, as we see this as your project that you can develop to showcase our impact in the way you feel is best.
Support for Postgraduate Researcher:
We provide onsite support as we regularly host Occupation Therapy students, as well as Social Worker students. This will include 1:1’s and support on and off site from a named person. We have always had lovely feedback from students about the support we give.
Skills and experience required for the role:
A wish to make a difference and provide something meaningful to showcase the impact of person-centred support for adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues.
Key Details:
Placement ideal start date: August 2026, but we are flexible
Placement duration: 3-months, but we can be flexible on this
Full-time or part-time: e.g. 37.5 hours per week or usually 18-19 hours per week. We can be flexible on this
In-person, online or hybrid: Hybrid

Appointment to this role is contingent upon a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Successful applicants are required to present identification documents and complete necessary forms in person at the Leeds site.

Applicant eligibility:
This opportunity is only accepting applications from Postgraduate Researchers with secured funding and authorisation from their doctoral funding body to undertake a three-month placement.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the placement meets the criteria specified by their programme and university and that they secure the necessary permissions from their university before commencing the placement.
