3. Doing IPS PhD Seminar Series
The Call for Papers for the next edition of the DoingIPS PhD Seminar Series is now out. Kindly find it attached and at the following link: CfP PhD Seminar Series (2024-2025) — DoingIPS
Into its 7th year, the ‘Doing IPS’ PhD Seminar Series introduces graduate students to research inspired by International Political Sociology’s (IPS) commitment to challenge methodological and conceptual assumptions in their research disciplines, and ask new questions about transdisciplinary modes of inquiry. It will address the need for doctoral candidates to have a forum dedicated to IPS where they can: (1) present their work and receive feedback from peers and senior academics in the field; (2) engage with contemporary IPS research designs and debates; and (3) develop transdisciplinary and cross-institutional relationships with a view to facilitating further discussions and collaborations around common research themes. Lastly, the series will strengthen the analysis and evaluation skills of early career researchers.
The deadline for applications is Monday 8th July 2024 at 12pm BST. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by 2 August 2024.
Please email us at ips.phd.seminar@gmail.com if you have any questions or queries.
We look forward to receiving abstracts from interested PhD Students working in London and surroundings. Any questions please do get in touch.

5. The Safeguarding Adults 2024 conference
A warm welcome awaits you from Open Forum Events as we introduce the third annual event focusing on adult safeguarding. 26 September 2024, Pendulum Hotel &
Manchester Conference Centre.
The Safeguarding Adults 2024 conference is an essential meeting that brings together professionals from various sectors to discuss and address important issues related to safeguarding adults at risk of harm. This conference aims to raise awareness, share best practices, and collaborate on strategies to protect adults at risk of abuse or neglect.
Information from the Safeguarding Adults Collection in England between April 2022 and March 2023 revealed that approximately 587,965 concerns of abuse against adults had been raised, which was an increase of nine per cent on the previous year. Approximately 2.6 million people over the age of 65 are victims of abuse each year in the UK but it is likely this figure is not a true reflection due to under reporting.
This conference will seek to promote a culture of protection and support for those at risk through a series of keynote speeches, delivered by renowned safeguarding experts, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. The agenda will focus on current challenges and trends, provide practical tools and strategies for safeguarding adults, and contribute to enhanced skills and practice.
If you have a safeguarding responsibility and wish to gain new insights and knowledge, learn from experts in the field, engage in meaningful conversations to improve safeguarding practices nationally, and build connections with like-minded professionals, BOOK YOUR PLACE TODAY
