The Qatar Centre for Global Banking and Finance is delighted to offer a workshop aimed at economics PhD students preparing for “the job market”. The workshop will consist of an afternoon of panel discussions and Q&A sessions. Various myths and misunderstandings surround the job market, making the process more stressful and complicated than it needs to be. We hope to dispel those myths by starting a friendly discussion between (and among) students, academics, and private-sector recruiters.
This event (at KBS’s Bush House on July 4th) is open to all Economics PhD students at UK departments (not only macro and not only at King’s College London) and will be run in person. We encourage students at any stage of their PhD to sign up. Please note, however, in the case of capacity constraints, priority will be given to students intending to go on the market in 2022/23.
If you wish to attend, please register here and kindly complete this form.

We will discuss various mechanical aspects of the market (what to expect at interview, how to market your paper, etc.). Panelists include employees from:
You will also get to hear from recent PhD graduates who will share their experiences of navigating the economics job market. In addition, the finalists of QCGBF’s Young Economist Prize competition will present their work at the end of the day.
