Doing Digital Research with The National Archives – Talk and Q&A

26th May 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Two sessions:

Talk and Q&A – Thursday 26th May 10-11:30am

Interactive session – Friday 27th May 10-11:30am

Event description

The aim of this event is to get you thinking about how digital research skills may be of use in the cultural heritage sector, both during your PhD and on the other side. There are no expectations for attendees to have specific digital skills, and students at any stage in their PhD are welcome to attend.

There are thousands of digital resources and tools available online, from programming to data science and beyond. But it can be hard to know where to begin.

This event will try to cut through the jargon and identify some of the core technologies for working with arts and humanities data and the concepts behind them. It will provide the opportunity to learn about The National Archives work and actively engage with experts to explore some key digital ideas. It will also introduce attendees to techniques for digitally processing, exploring and visualising cultural heritage data. Attendees will gain both conceptual knowledge and practical digital research skills and will leave with a clearer idea of how they can develop these further.

Booking information

The Talk/Q&A session on Thursday 26th May does not have an attendance limit but the interactive session on Friday 27th May has an attendance limit of 30. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

The deadline for booking a place will be Friday 20th May at 12pm.
