  1. STUDENT FUNDING APPLICATIONS FOR 2022/23

All Research and Event Funding and Funding Extension Scheme applications for 2022/2023 are now open. This includes applications for: RTSG, OIV, OSFW, Internships, Student Led Activity Funding, and Pathway Led Activity Funding. The application forms are available through our website and the links below.

Please note that applications will be reviewed on the first working Monday of January, April, June, and October. LISS DTP reserves the right to limit reviewing out-of-cycle review requests, please plan appropriately and submit your application for funding within the quarterly review periods

  1. UKRI STIPEND RATE INCREASE  UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is increasing its minimum student stipend by 10% on the previously announced level for the 2022 to 2023 academic year. The increased stipend will be provided to students in receipt of a UKRI stipend commencing or continuing their studies from 1 October 2022.

  1. LISS DTP INDUCTION DAY SOCIAL EVENT – 22nd SEPTEMBER

Current LISS DTP students and supervisors are invited to attend a social event that will follow an in-person Induction Day for the incoming cohort of LISS DTP students on Thursday the 22nd of September at Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre. Theis drinks and canapes reception will be held on Coin Street’s rooftop terrace (weather permitting) from 17:15 – 19:00; current LISS DTP students, supervisors, and Pathway Leads are all encouraged to attend the reception so that incoming students will have the opportunity to meet the full LISS DTP community. We look forward to seeing you there!

 4. LISS DTP AUTUMN 2022 TRAINING PROGRAMME

Registration for our Autumn Term 2022 training programme will open on Friday 23rd September. The details of the training programme schedule and information on how to register will be circulated via email in mid-September.

  1. LISS DTP STUDENT FORUMS

Two student forums for 2022/23 have been scheduled:

Wednesday 5th October 4 – 5pm

Wednesday 25th January 4 – 5pm

All LISS students are encouraged to attend and calendar invitations will follow. You will be asked to submit any questions ahead of the forums.

6.  NEW PROCESS FOR STUDENT PROFILE UPDATES FOR THE LISS DTP WEBSITE

All pre-existing student profile update requests have now been processed. If you need your profile to be updated urgently due to upcoming applications, please contact us at liss-dtp@kcl.ac.uk for the attention of Cairn Macfarland. 

Going forward, we will be instating a new process for updating student profiles via a time-limited form that will be available to you in the coming academic year. If you have already submitted a request to update your student profile, then you will not need to do so again. The incoming 2022/23 cohort will have a separate process for creating their student profiles.

  1. JOB OPPORTUNITY – GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT AT IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON

The Institute of Security Science and Technology (ISST) is looking to engage with an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Research Fellow / Post-Doctoral Researcher to assist in the delivery of our MSc in Security and Resilience: Science and Technology (MSc SRST). This MSc is welcoming its fourth cohort in October 2022 of approximately 55 students. The teaching assistant will work on one (or two) of the following modules: Behavioural Science and Security (autumn term) Behavioural Research Methods (spring term) CBRNE (autumn term) Sensors (spring term)

  1. LISS DTP Team Update

We’ve had some changes to the LISS DTP Team over the Summer:

Professor Pietro Panzarasa – joins LISS DTP as LISS DTP Director as of 01/09/2022

Sarah Kiernan – joins us full-time as the new LISS DTP Administrator (previously Communications and Engagement Coordinator)

Cairn Macfarland – join us from 12/09/2022 as Doctoral Studies Coordinator on a part-time basis, looking after all communications and engagement activity within the DTP

We are excited to welcome new team members, please give them a warm welcome!
